SlapOS Cloud Operation Management System (OM) is an integrated platform designed to deploy large scale Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). It is based on SlapOS open source edge computing platform that has been deployed successfully since 2009 in companies such as Airbus, Woelfel, Mitsubishi, PSA, SANEF, Kyorin, Teralab, etc.

Cloud Service Lifecycle Management

The core function of SlapOS OM is to provision and monitor a complete cloud service across thousands of geographical sites. This includes automated setup of compute node,  automated provisioning of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS) software, automated software upgrade, low-latency DC connectivity, automated packet routing, network health monitoring, predictive maintenance, customer relationship management (CRM), accounting and billing. All functions can be accessed through a central dashboard based on a geographical map with alarms that turn from green (OK) to orange (incident prediction) and red (incident).

Issue Tracking Workflow

Each time an alarm turns orange, read or a customer complains, SlapOS OM generates a ticket and initiates a workflow to track the issue through its different states until it is resolved. Cloud management staff analyses and identifies the issue through graphical monitoring tools that let them dig into possible causes. Each resolved issue is categorized and feeds machine learning (A.I.) models that provide predictive notification to prevent similar issue to happen again in the future.

IPv6 Low Latency at the Edge

SlapOS OM already supports ultra low latency deployment typical of future 5G networks by deploying an optional IPv6 overlay network on each compute node, each switch and each DC. All nodes can form a completely decentralized hybrid mesh network. IPv6 based latency optimized routing algorithm powered by babel protocol (RFC 6126) ensures the fastest possible route between server backend and HTTP frontend, effectively circumventing congestion and poorly optimized BGP routes.

High Performance Big Data

SlapOS OM eliminates unnecessary layers and supports direct to bare metal deployment of high performance database clusters (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, NEO, HDFS, etc.) or data science libraries (scikit-learn, Numpy, ATLAS, etc.). It drastically simplifies the implementation and optimization of big data cloud applications and ensures I/O for data access are always maximized.

SDK + REST API

A Software Development Kit (SDK) is provided with SlapOS OM platform to let public or private cloud operators develop their own value added services. SlapOS OM also provides a complete REST API to remotely control any of its features and simplify system integration.
