SlapOS was introduced in Seoul at the "2011 Virtualization Workshop" hosted by ETRI and organized by CCCR (Consortium of Cloud Computing Research), 한국클라우드컴퓨팅연구조합. 

 

Yusei Tahara introduced the architecture of SlapOS and the main fields of application. Yusei explained in particular why Nexedi KK uses SlapOS:

  • Nexedi KK provides ERP5 implementations
  • Nexedi KK customers need a solid system 
  • ERP5 setup procedure on a cluster requires many steps and a lot know how to achieve high performance
  • Nexedi KK is willing to share best practices of ERP5 system configuration with other entities of Nexedi and beyond
  • Nexedi KK is willing to automate ERP5 deployment so that the installation and system configuration procedure can be reproduced very quickly at any time on any operating system
  • Nexedi KK is not willing to maintain packages for multiple operating systems since this is very time consuming and does not provide guarantee of  reproducing
