Description

Nexedi offers internships for students or future engineers interested in open source software with possible employment at the end of the internship. The content of each internship is adapted to each personality and to the duration of the internship.

These internship topics can also be the first mission when hiring a confirmed developer on a permanent contract who is already heavily involved in the field of open source software.

For this topic, we would like to implement a fully open sourced PLC product that is capable of controlling any electrical circuit in harsh industrial environments. The PLC will be based on OLinuXino from Olimex. Intially this means improving an existing prototype PLC used in our OSIE project. Once working properly, this task will cover making it

  • harder and resilient
  • resisting electrostatics
  • compliant with OPC-UA
  • controlled by beremiz free software for automation

It is possible to use our workshop in Lille and our lab in Plovdiv, Bulgaria with a sample production line built from scratch to test the PLC in collaborative industrial conditions. It may also be required to do real mechanical improvements on the PLC box and production lineusing FreeCad.
