Nexedi offers internships for students or future engineers interested in open source software with possible employment at the end of the internship. The content of each internship is adapted to each personality and to the duration of the internship.

These internship topics can also be the first mission when hiring a confirmed developer on a permanent contract who is already heavily involved in the field of open source software.

For this postion, we would like to extend the Edge Cloud SlapOS  in order to automate the management and deployment of a 4G/5G network with rules or learning techniques ("AI" if you want to use marketing language).

Nexedi produces and distributes through its subsidiary Rapid.Space  a 4G/5G base station that can be deployed in free frequency band throughout France. When several stations are placed in close proximity, the power of each station must be adjusted to limit interference (e.g. to prevent the stations from jamming their signals) or to optimise throughput (e.g. to avoid having more users on one station than on the other).

These settings are often made manually or planned through so-called "radio planning". However, we would like to be able to automate the settings without the need to carry out a complicated study before each station deployment. Ideally, each station should self-configure intelligently.

We would also like to automate the deployment of edge computing services in each station, including a distributed IP traffic management service (core network) to avoid any central point of failure.

The aim of the course is to address one of these issues using the experimental infrastructure of the Rapid.Space laboratory, which consists of 10 4G/5G (eNodeB/gNodeB) station simulators and 10 terminal simulators capable of simulating 1,000 smartphones. This infrastructure makes it possible to simulate in an office the equivalent of a network in a small town.

This course provides you with the latest skills in the field of telecoms (virtualized 5G), convergent cloud (edge computing, automated operations management) and routing (hybrid mesh networks). These skills can then be useful either in the field of the cloud or in that of networks.
